The margarita is a classic, a quintessential, and festive cocktail that can be found at any bar. Many have come to claim to be the originator of the margarita, but we believe its origins date back to Acapulco in 1948.

A close friend of Taylor West’s and Bill West, Margarita Sames is credited with its creation, and the namesake of the cocktail.

Margarita was entertaining friends at a Christmas party at her home in Acapulco, including the company of Conrad Hilton Jr., Barron Hilton, and Eric Hilton. The margarita was born when the group decided to create a drink to fit the occasion. Each guest was to concoct a drink to see which one was best. You can easily guess whose was the favorite.
